There are plenty of superheroes living right here in Te Puke – and this Father’s Day, we asked our community to tell us about them!
Our EPIC Te Puke Father’s Day Giveaway was all about celebrating the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures who are always there when we need them. We asked people to nominate their everyday hero and tell us what their “superpower” was – and the responses didn’t disappoint.
We received more than 100 entries across Facebook and Instagram, including bonus entries for joining our database and sharing the promotion. Along the way, we got to read some funny, heartfelt and downright lovely stories about the special men in our community. From dads with lightning-fast reflexes and questionable DIY skills, to those whose greatest superpower is simply always being there for their whānau, we loved seeing so many deserving dads and father figures get the shout-out they deserve.
Two EPIC Hampers Up for Grabs
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our local businesses, we were able to put together two massive Father’s Day prize hampers, packed with vouchers, experiences, products and treats.
Father’s Day Hamper #1
Our first hamper featured goodies generously donated by:
Rex Networks, Capitol Theatre Te Puke, Ray White Te Puke, Lumberjacks The Packhouse, Tyre Dispatch, The Daily Café, STIHL Shop Te Puke, Dobsons, Farmlands Te Puke, Trevelyan’s, Auto Super Shoppe Te Puke, McDonald’s Te Puke, Barber Lounge and Te Puke Today.
The hamper was then beautifully packaged and wrapped by Super Liquor Te Puke.

Father’s Day Hamper #2
Our second hamper was just as impressive, with goodies from:
Tyre Dispatch, Te Puke Landscape Supplies, Vivian Edgar Optometrist, STIHL Shop Te Puke, Mitre 10 Te Puke, Cavanagh Motors, Trevelyan’s, BCH, VisionLab, Auto Super Shoppe Te Puke, SUB10, Blackbird Records, ReeStyle, Paper Plus Te Puke and McDonald’s Te Puke.
Once again, Super Liquor Te Puke worked their magic to package everything up beautifully and get it ready for one lucky dad.

Together, our local businesses contributed more than $3,000 + worth of prizes to the promotion – an incredible show of support for our community.
And the Winners Are…
Following a random draw from our eligible entries, two lucky nominators were selected to take home the hampers for their everyday heroes.
Liz Saunders, who nominated her husband James Saunders, describing him as her and their whānau’s superhero simply for being the person he is. Apparently his superpowers also include being “grumpy, bossy & annoying”, some Bob the Builder skills that raise a few eyebrows, and an impressive ability for “mind setting… or is that setting minds?” 😂

Kim Taylor, who nominated James Taylor, whose superpower is his super-fast reflexes – particularly useful when protecting their two little kiddos from whatever mischief they might be getting themselves into! Most importantly, Kim described James as their hero who is always there when they need him.

Congratulations Liz, James, Kim and James – we hope you enjoy all of the goodies and that the dads get thoroughly spoilt!
Thank You, Te Puke 💚
A massive thank you goes to every local business that contributed a prize. Promotions like this simply wouldn’t be possible without businesses willing to get behind them, and the generosity shown once again was pretty amazing.
And thank you to everyone who entered. While we could only draw two winners, the nominations told plenty of stories about dads and father figures who deserve recognition – for working hard, supporting their families, making people laugh, fixing things, keeping the kids out of trouble and simply being the person their whānau can count on.
That sounds pretty superhero-worthy to us.
From all of us at EPIC Te Puke – Happy Father’s Day, Te Puke! 💚
